Melody Tai is an accomplished harpist, dancer, and pianist who has performed throughout the United States and Europe.
She has been on stage since the age of four and has performed on some of the world’s largest stages including center stage at the 2015 Grammy Awards with Stevie Wonder and Usher. Melody loves performing in high pressure situations whether it’s in an orchestral, a pop/rock environment, a professional chamber group, or it’s for a solo recital or competition.
Aside from performing, Melody also loves teaching and sharing her artistic crafts. She has been teaching for five years through multiple studios in Southern California, Northern California, and New York City. As a teacher, she prides herself in training the technical and and historical aspects of her art forms to make sure students develop appropriate technique to avoid injury both immediate and long term. At the same time, she promotes a fun environment and learning experience for even the most difficult students. She trains students of all ages, but focuses on beginning- intermediate levels.
Melody received her musical training from Alexandra Perdew, Mei Lau, Daniel Alfred Wachs, and The Little Dance World company and school. She completed all of the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music levels in piano and holds a Royal Academy of Dance certificate with Distinction at the Advanced Vocational Level. In addition, she has won and been a finalist at many competitions in the above fields, including the 2016 Grandjany Memorial Competition, Lily Laskine International Junior Prix, AHS and ASTA regional competitions, and Beverly Hills ACT-SO, as well as being a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 47 and the American Harp Society.
In addition to being an artist, Melody is also currently completing a degree in Sustainable Development at Columbia University in the City of New York.
